We are all responsible for environmental conservation, which we must upkeep. Simple communal activities have global and transcendent repercussions. Anyone can and should participate and contribute to the understanding of life on the planet, and this is what we call citizen science.
The Internet, social networks, and camera-equipped cell phones have dramatically improved society's ability to participate in knowing the environment in real time.

Somosnaturalistas.mx is an internet platform that offers scientific information about the natural world. Our site includes suggestions for appropriate equipment to study animals, as well as literature and activities. You can also access shared findings by Mexican naturalists and a database created through citizen science.
Somosnaturalistas.mx's purpose is to extend the impact of iNaturalistMX, which is part of the iNaturalist.com Global Network.

The project aims to generate biological inventories that serve as a foundation for integrating sustainability and conservation into the hotel industry. By training employees in conservation, biodiversity, citizen science, and the use of the iNaturalistMX platform, we generate information on the presence and absence of at-risk, endemic, exotic, and biocultural species (see somosnaturalista.mx)
The project substantially increased participation, the number of observations, and the richness of recorded species both within and around the hotels Presidente InterContinental Cancún, Presidente InterContinental Cozumel, and Kimpton Aluna Tulum in Quintana Roo.
As a result of the pilot program, 24 concrete conservation and restoration actions were proposed, distributed across the interior of the hotels, their immediate surroundings, and the surrounding landscape, with short-, medium-, and long-term timelines. Additionally, 18 biodiversity-related experiences were suggested, ranging from activities within the hotels to guided visits to nearby natural areas, designed for diverse audiences.
