The Bienal de Yucatán is an international contemporary art festival, free and open to the public, founded in 2026 by historian and collector Catherine Petitgas. It grows out of a recognition of a vibrant, diverse local scene eager for exchange, as well as the need to strengthen the professionalization, visibility and networking of contemporary art in southeastern Mexico. Through a broad public program, the festival seeks to engage diverse audiences.
TAE coordinates the School Visit Program and the workshops for families and young people, bringing the Bienal’s artistic proposal closer to Yucatán’s educational communities. The initiative invites students and teachers to encounter contemporary art through observation, dialogue and the shared construction of learning experiences.
Standing before a work of art, children and young people develop new ways of learning by connecting art, life experience and knowledge. Their cognitive and emotional development is strengthened through reflection and empathy, in a safe place and with the support of a mediator.
