BAKTUN

Present difficulties perpetually threaten the Maya cosmovision and its archeological, cultural, and linguistic richness. We founded Baktun to support programs that preserve and share Maya cultural heritage. The Baktun concept refers to the longest measure of the Mayan long-count calendar.

CULTURAL PROMOTERS

We designed our Cultural Mediators and Promoters Program to help Mayan communities enhance and fortify their cultural leadership. Through a two-year training cycle, young university students reappropriate cultural legacies and pass them on to their classmates. The students acquire self-confidence and skills to become mediators and promoters of their own culture.

LU'UMEN LU'UMO'ON

The purpose of this program is to promote collaborative leadership. We see learning as a community process that blends individual and collective strengths for greater impact.

Our partnership with the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and Pronatura Sur allows facilitators to use learning spaces to generate community projects on the Yucatan Peninsula.

KANASÍN

This program aims to develop the school community in Kanasin, Yucatan, by creating participatory communities that address local social concerns. It began as an initiative of the Alberto Baillères Foundation and today brings together several education-related groups, as well as municipal and state governments.
